  • Help with Scratches

Hey there, this is something that has been bugging me for a while. There was a small scratch on my car, and someone used rubbing compound to cover it up. The result, a scratch that is surrounded with swirls of lighter color where it seems the finish was scratched up. Can anyone help? (I have an image of it, but I cant get the copy and paste to work to put it in here.)

Here I have the image loaded, bottom of the page.

dang man that must have been some bad rubbing compound or that guy pushed REALLy hard. It shouldn't do that. Try some maguires scratch X. Its not to abbrasive and works great.

3M makes an excellent swirl mark remover. Perfect-IT Foam Polishing Pad Glaze Swirl Mark Remover, PN 39009.

I have used this before and it has done a good job on small to mild scratches. It is an abrasive, so its not something you want to use every time you wash your car.

I tried GS-27 once on an old Geo. It did cover up a scratch somewhat, but it washed away with the first car wash. It didn't do anything to actually remove the scratch.
