Washing Engine

Well, my engine is looking pretty dirty. I'm thinking I need to clean it. What all do I need to cover? Ignition pieces? Airbox?

i'd cover airbox, alternater, battery, and anything else with wires

I wash my motor every month and all I do is spray it with degreaser, then rinse it off. try not to spray it in the alternator or battery. I also use the spay engine detailer too.
