Awesome work, Michelle. I don't know if you are doing this on a regular basis, but you could find all sorts of business over on the Corvette forum (www.corvetteforum.com) if you are interested. If I made them not look symetrical it wouldnt look right. Take a look at almost any flame job on a hood and you will see it is that way. Have you ever really taken a look at flame jobs? Anything other then symetrical would look totally out of whack.... heres just a few samples to prove it to you and take a look at the flame job on my hood also. And it is not easier and is in fact harder to do them symetrical.
