• Plastic Lens on Gauge Cluster Replacement?

Well I am going to try and describe this the best i can.

Its not scratches, and it doesn't look like the lens is fogged up... it just looks like it absorbed cleaner or something... and it has this white haze on it. Its not completely all over the lens but here and there in sploches.

Problem is, i don't remember what cleaner i sprayed that would have done it. All the stuff i have is non abrasive.

Anyone else get this?

Anyone else find away to get rid of it?

I figured i could just get the Lens and be done with it, but when i went to the dealership, the parts department said that i would have to buy the whole cluster.

But after looking in their computer, they found a part number, but i have to go to some place called "SPECMO" to see if they sell it seperate or if they will only provide it with the cluster.

THIS SUCKS... i mean.. i bet the lens is a $12.00 part and i hope they don't make me pay $400.00 to have the whole cluster changed.

Last question: Anyone know the part number or has replaced the lens on a 2000 firebird before?

I am going to put indigo gauges in soon, and if i am going to go through the trouble of taking everything apart to put gauges in, i might as well change the lens.

Thanks for the help.

Well i guess i answered my own question.

This is a good one to keep in the archives.

http://www.specmo.com/

You can get the lens there.

Its $30.00 and the part number is: 16230640

Lucky for me they are located in Michigan
Phone: 1 (800) 545-7910
Fax: 1 (800) 682-3799
Write: Specmo Enterprises, Inc
32655 Industrial Drive.
Madison Heights, MI 48071

They also said they would install my indigo gauges and recalibrate my cluster for $85.00
They said they would do it in 20 minutes to a half hour if i bring my cluster there.

I have that exact same problem and it's been bothering the hell out of me!!! I'm thinking it was some armor all too. So you say just use black tire magic and windex? just use one then the other? And how the hell did you figure that out?

It was an accident I oversprayed and it got on the plastic and I was like great more spots so I just wiped it up and it was gone.. then to get the "greasy" feel away I went over it with windex and it looks like there is no plastic there at all now!

I know it sounds where but try it if you have any heavy duty cleaners. I don't know try anything but it can be cleaned I swear... I swear on my membership!

yeah it works. I was lazy and didn't take the time for the windex and it still worked great, only problem is dust collects on it like no other. Oh well I'll take the time and do it better later. You have no idea how much this was bothering me
