Anyone have a nicely detailed engine compartment?
Here's a pic of mine after the CAI install. It's pretty dirty. I want to clean it up but am afraid to powerwash it, don't want to mess w/the electrical system.
Post some pics if you have them and let me know how to clean it.
ahhh i remember the engine bay of my old 3.4....check out my 97 now.
as far as cleaning it, you can just get a can of engine degreaser for $1.79 @ Walmart....do it when your engine is warm, cover your alternator and other electrical parts along with your intake filters....then just let the degreaser work itself into the engine components, after that get a tooth brush and scrub the hard to reach places....after that take a hose and rinse it off, take off whatever nozzle your hose may have and let it run freely (know what im saying???) ooops gotta go! gonna be late for work!!!

I haven't added anything to it or done anything special, but its pretty clean for an 8 year old car.
I have since cleaned up the crap around the lights and the coil packs too. I never used a powerwasher, I just sprayed some Simple Green on the parts, let it sit for a minute or two, then rinsed with a hose. I covered the alternator and coil packs with plastic bags, and cleaned those by hand. You will probably need to use a sponge or cloth to get alot of it when you don't use a powerwasher. It just takes a little time.

that was an engine dress up kit that you could find almost anymwhere.
Once the engine was clean I got a little foam applicator and armor-alled all plastic parts of the engine. Call this crazy but I also waxed my intake arm.
OOOOPPPS....dont think that was the engine you wanted. To clean I just use the same soap and water I use to wash the car. The key is to not let it get dirty in the first place. I was under the hood everytime I wash the car.
