  • Need Ideas for a paintjob

Im getting some body damaged fixed on my car next week along with having the whole thing repainted (lot of scratches..). So i figured, if the whole thing's being repainted, why not do something interesting right? So anyway, I have a jet black 97 firebird with t-tops and the sports package and everything. I was thinking that i'd paint 2 white stipes accross the top like on T/A's and paint a white rim around the bottom.. like the yellow one here..

Any one have any opinions or other ideas? Any pics of nice paint jobs for me to consider? thx.

well i think yellow or red would look better on black then white. my oppinion. i think stripes and the ring around the bottom would be too much. one of them would look good. i think both of them would be over kill. just my oppinion.

Little overkill but definatley not rice. Kinna sharp actually but I would do one or the other. White painted around the bottom would look GOOD on a black bird imo

what about Silver and black? I think that would be sharp, maybe even gold/black, but I prefer silver.

Hope you know what you're getting yourself into. I had some damage that the insurance was paying for and I thought the same as you why not go ahead and get the whole thing repainted. Well im looking at 2 to $3000 I am not so sure. I am now doing most of thw work to cut down on costs except for the actual painting. Especially if you go two tone or ghost flames or anything custom. It is mucho denero. IF you've got it then more power to ya but get quotes before you consider it. I didn't know paint jobs cost that much but when insurance isn't paying it gets pricey.

IMHO, two-tones down-low don't look good on Fbodies.
Red and silver are the best schemes for a black car. I'd go red

After doing some extensive searching, not only for you but for myself, I finally found some pictures. Yahoo is the best search engine. You said you were going to have the whole car painted, correct? Have you thought about painting the car a different color other then black. Perhaps you could paint the car a custom color. This past January I went to the L.A. Auto Show. There, I saw the Pontiac Vibe GT-R concept car. The car jumped at me it was simply beautiful. It was beautiful not because of the shape or the design but because of the color. I asked the representative what color it was and I believe he said Opra Red. I emailed Pontiac to make sure that is the name of the color, I also asked if the color was available to the public. The color is probably the best looking the red I've ever seen, excluding some 15,000 dollar paint job. Although, the paint job did look like a million bucks. I was some what different looking in person. It seemed to have sparkles, or medal flake in the paint. You can't really pick that up in the pictures. But I thought this could be an idea for you. I think that it would look beautiful on your car, well, just about any car for that matter.

Is this what you are thinking about doing?

I personally think that silver with that set up would look sweet.
