  • remove center console?

How do I remove my center console? I want to swap ebrake mechanisms with one I bought from speedautomotive (see other post for info on that).

I was actually wondering the same thing. I have a Camaro and I don't know if our cars differ but from what I've seen there are the two nut-bolts in the box and then there are one nut-bolt on each side of the front of the console. After that I don't know but tomorrow I'll be taking it off and I'll find out how to take it off.

First, you'll have to remove the top section of the console. Remove your shift knob. Open your storage box, remove the coin holder, and remove those two screws that were underneath the coin holder. Slowly pull up on this top section and unplug the ashtray light and cig lighter. Set aside. ;)

Second, you'll have 5 screws to remove... two in the storage box, one right in front of the airbag module, and two up towards the front under the dash (you'll see them on the outside). Next, take a flashlight and look through the rubber where the E-brake is coming through. You should see on the passenger side of the brake mechanism, something that looks like a claw-type of lever. Push that lever down and pull up on the e-brake. The e-brake should pull right up with no resistance at all. Pull the e-brake till it's straight up and down. Slowly work the center console up and towards the back.

      HTH! :D

ok there are two bolts in the storage compartment that need to be pulled out, and there are two little botls underneath the change holder which you have to pop out. Then take out the two way up front that are on each side and I believe there are two other bolts in the middle underneath the ash tray. If not, then there are only 6 of them.
Also, go to installuniversity.com and check out the shifter install, it shows how to remove the console and get the e-brake up properly.
