If it's just gonna sit outside for that long, I would invest in a cover for it.

Be careful buying cheap covers. I don't know how nice your paint is, but I have seen plenty of covers scratch the hell out of cars because they get dirty, went, and slide all over the car. Are your parents or anyone going to be driving it while you are at school? If they are then no big deal, but if its just sitting till you get home you need to do more than just cover it.

It's not mentioned how long it will be sitting without running, but for a long period of time, I would advise:

Put a bottle of gas-line antifreeze in the tank then drive it for a few miles before turning it off. -It helps the antifreeze move through the gas lines and injectors.

                  Change the oil.

                  Disconnect the battery.

Lift the car up about 6" and put some jackstands on the frame to releive some the pressure on the springs & tires.

Take some (not all) air pressure out of the tires.

Cover it with a quality car cover.

I know some stuff sounds a bit too much, but that's what I would do if my car sat in one spot for more than 6 months.

Eric is right. If the car is sitting for an extended period of time and not being driven he should do those things. Whats the point of having nice paint when the car won't be running right when you get home.

my dad will probly drive it once a week or so so i am really just worried about the exterior of the car. I think today i am going to wash and wax it and then buy a cheap wal-mart cover? unless someone tells me thats a bad idea. Cuz i could always order a nice one and have my dad cover it.

I have a wallmart cover on my car, but it also sits in a garage with it on to keep dust off. I wouldn't put it outside with a cheap cover. You risk scratches & water getting under the cover and not drying/evaporating properly.
If I didn't have a garage, I would have definately invested in a good cover for it. They cost alot, but you will get what'chya pay for ;)

yeah sorry mines in a garage also. if outside i wouldve bought a nicer cover.

and yes BIH the cover properly covers my spoiler.
                            thanks for caring
