  • Paint drums red? (painted calipers)

I am painting my brake calipers red today and I was just wondering if I should paint the drums also? Advice anyone?

I painted my calipers red, and my drums black when I used to have drums, I thought painting the drums red would be to much. It looked real clean and nice black.

I had seen brake drums painted red before, and I didn't like it. It just looks cheesy (imo). Save some money, and go with a rear disk setup, then paint the calipers red. Looks alot better.

My rear drums are painted blue, but the paint is coming off so you can't really tell anymore. It did look nice tho.

          Colored drums look like crap.

My front calipers are polished aluminum paint (looks just like the rims, so i like it), and the drums i painted black so you cant see them.

Yea man, it would look too much like crap. I just paint my front discs and drums all black.

I don't think brake drums are anything to boast about. Just try using a pollishing bit for a drill and run that over them to take the rust off, then polish it up with some mother's or blue magic. This way, you don't to deal with painting them (and repainting them when they bubble) and it will be subtle.

i just painted my calipers and drums flat black, that way they would be less noticable and look clean, colors will fade and break dust will make them look like crap

I got done painting the calipers today and I put 5 thin coats of VHT Caliper paint on. It took me a total of around 4 hours from jacking the car up to the five coats with half hour drying periods, to it sitting in the garage with the paint curing over night. I think they look HOTT!

                  Here at the pics.

He has got it right, nothing to boast about, making them black or polishing them would be good.

the only colors drums should be painted is black or aluminum/silver in my opinion

Yep, I painted mine flat black. It looks alright, makes them less noticable.
