Is this feasible? (re-painting related)

My Camaro is black, and under my care, I feel that the finish is becoming crap. I really do not know what the heck I am doing, so I am heavily considering having my car re-painted.

On the other hand, I have a pewter Neon which hasn't been washed in about 5 months or so. It actually looks pretty good still.

I was thinking of having the Camaro painted silver, maybe even white, since I have been reading that these colors are easier to take care of than black.

1) The tech school I currently attend has an auto-shop class, and they paint cars for the cost of only the paint. No labor charges.

2) One of my managers' husband, Wally, is an auto guy who can do a little bit of everything, from what I can understand. I was at his house about two weeks ago, and he showed me some of his paint jobs. They looked quite nice to me. He has this older-style Cutlass which he painted purple himself.

Do you think that either one of these options is feasible for a new paint job?

i dunno because i am in the same boat as u but that would be a big risk in my opinion i guess it depends on how much you trust him or yourself, me personally i am gonna have mine done professionally that way it will be done right, with paint you pay for experience!!!

Nah. Stick with black. Take it to a professional detail shop and have them buff the clear coat on the entire car. I guarantee the paint will look new again. It should cost anywhere from $100-$200. Basically someone who's good with an orbital buffer can get out water spots and light scratches and you won't have to worry about getting the entire car painted cuz it'll look new again.

well there is no hope for my paint, it is chipping in so many places especially hood and around the back of my wing and just other random spots so maybe next summer i will look into it!

If you do decide to paint it, I'd get in done by that guy for free. You said you seen his work and it looked nice, well I guess that means your car is going to look nice. And I dont know about silver, but I hate white. My firebird is white and it gets dirty very quick and is also very noticable when its dirty. If I ever get my car painted, I'd like to go dark, probably black.

depends how bad the finish is. if its just swirl marks and light scratches, id just get it buffed and detailed. if youre talking about deep scratches and chipped paint, youre going to need to repaint.

they cant take off the swirl marks on the paint,its the paint thats cracking not thye clear coat.only way would be to repaint the car

I am curious if anyone knows if Vista/Sonic/Viper blue would show swirls and impurities anywhere near as bad as black does.

Cause if not, I will definitely get that color.

^ That is Vista Blue on a Mustang. I find that Sonic and Viper blues are of similar color.

mines red and its same as yours,I guess it doesnt matter what color is it.why not get electron blue color?
