painted brake drums!!!!

ok guys, i got a little bored today so i decided to try somthing:stp:
took my drums off to paint them black (like any good f-body owner would do) and i thought to myslef I WONDER how these would look red!! well since i have never seen pics of this on a camaro (maybe for good reason) i thought i would give it a try!! i can always paint them black if i don't like them. so here is where you guys come in, opions please, you can be as nasty as you want, please stay within the rules, dont want loochy to have to lock the thread. last thing, if you like them, 2 more questions: would you do it? and does it look good enough to stoop to "rice" level?? please no "its your car do what you like" comments, i really want to know what f-body owners think. because i might think it looks good while everyone else thinks it's gay. and i want OTHER people to think i have a bad axx car not just me.thanks, sorry for the long post and bad spelling

NICE!..i've got chrome C5s but i have disk brakes front and rear (98 Camaro) so i have all the calipers painted red with "CAMARO" in silver on the fronts..i love how the red goes against the chrome

Painted drums are kinda ricey - another vote for the disc brake conversion. Nice wheels though.

you did a very good job with the drums. i dont think they are ricey at all. I didnt know you got C6 rims, they look great! how big are they and how much did you get them for? do you have any pictures of them on the car?

thanks for the good comments, i just painted the inside rim so it would not look too gotty
just got my rims tuesday 17x9.5 all the way around, no pics yet still wainting on tires:(

yeah, you really need a full shot to form an opion (man i cant spell that word):D
anyway it's dark and cars in the garage, so tomarrow i'll get better pics

looking for a rear-end swap but might try this in the mean-time, if i keep it like this i'll have to clean up the edges a bit

when i had drums, i had them painted gloss black. it looked clean, but didnt show them off.

if you ever feel motivated to, get some disks back there.

i agree, i am goning to put disks on sooner or later, if you notice the outside of the drum i painted black, that was my plan to do the whole thing in black but then my mind got to turning and wondering maybe just maybe red would look good, since i dont have tires for my c6 wheels yet and the 94 firebird wheels i have on it now cover up 90% of the drum anyway i thought i would do it, get pics and see what everyone thought, i kinda like it but dont think ill keep it that way, my car is getting to the point of enough is enough im starting to get a lot of red on there and there is a fine line between looking good and looking getto, but yes disk brakes are a must

defineately put disc in the back! if anything i would paint the drums semi-gloss black to hide them, not draw attention to them

ok here is a full picture of the car with red drum, i think ill paint it back to black, oh and pay no attention to the unpainted gfx, just stuck it on to see what it would fit like and forgot to take it off for the pic
