not positive, but, I believe that they add support to the car's front suspension by preventing it from unwanted lateral movement.

^^ yeah, it ties the front shock mounts together to reduce chassis flex and improve handling capabilities.

its an LT1 style alternator I believe.

^^ Troy you should do the !wire mod and the hood latch relocation mods. It really cleans up the fenders

You're right, that left side especially looks pretty messy. I've got a busy weekend working on my car tomorrow to sunday, I'll add that to the list of to-dos.

Where should I relocate the fender ground and +12v?

Nope, 3.4's come with that style alternator. Some guys with LT1's swap out theirs for that style though. The one that originally comes on the LT1's looks like this:

I just tucked it down behind the battery where u cant see it
