  • looking for leather seats

I just purchased a awesome 2000 Firebird with only 18,700 miles on it!

Its the 3800 V-6 5 speed with the performance package including larger rims and tires, posi, dual exhaust, lower gears, trans am suspension and steering ect...

The one owner ordered it that way but liked cloth seats, and I prefer leather.

The color is Ebony but I think even black leather would still look good too.

So I am looking for a complete set of seats for my car in great shape, I would like the power drivers seat and lumbar if offered but I think I would need a harness to accept them too.

I checked car-part.com and found some possibilies but most will not ship and are far away to pick up.

I just joined this site tonight and am looking forward to learning all about my new car.

I am also restoring a 1969 SS BB car all original with papers but that is going to be a long ground up restoration doing it right.

    Thanks Jason

I dont know why you think that the performance package came with larger wheels, and transAm suspension but it didnt. Are you talking about the 1LE package along with Y87(performance package)? I thought the 1LE package wasnt available in 00'. What wheels are on your car?

I would look around some v8 boards and ebay for the seats. you shouldnt need a harness. it should be under your carpet already from the factory. have any pictures of your car? you know, its not good to only drive a car on average 3117 miles per year. probably some decent sludge and carbon build up.

    Welcome by the way :wavey:

    where you from?

Sorry about the "wheels" remark what I ment to say is the rims are still 16"

But the base cars came with P215/60R16

      And mine came with P235/55R16:wavey:

Thanks for the tips on the harness:tup:

          Re: looking for leather seats

yea i have the 55 series wheels too...

anyways, take a look on ebay or here in the forsale section to find some leather seats. Im getting a set of charcoal leather seats from a 95 trans am from my cousin for free this summer... cant wait.. i also have the same interior colors as you, so i think the black or light grey/charcoal seats would look good.

Check out ebay, for sale sections on V8 boards, or http://www.tacreationsusa.com/fb_seat_inv.htm

FYI. The Y87 package doesn't have any different suspension parts and it only has lower gear ratios in automatics. All 5 speeds got 3.23s.

Sweet looking bird though. Pretty low milage too.

to be specific, Y87 gives you lower gears for you auto, z28 steering ratio, dual outlet muffler, and an LSD

                Re: looking for leather seats

Ok the gears are lower only because the original owner "special" ordered it that way and it cost him extra plus the 3800 performance package.

I am trying all differnt sites for seats, there is some lagre swap meets in my area coming up this summer so I think I will check them out too

Hey, BLLDOGG is right. You don't need a new harness for the seats. GM used the same harness in all the Fbodies, when it came the interior anyway. When you take your cloth seats out there will be a small slit in the carpet about dead center. You should feel the plug under the carpet. Just fish it through the slit and plug in your new seats. I did the power leather seat swap from a 98 Z28 into my 95 and they work great.

BTW... I think Corvette seats have the same bolt pattern/spacing. ;)
