I'd rather make my current car one with $350 in parts and get nothing but complements.

Just take your time its not that hard, I think I woudl rather do another t-top conversion over a clutch swap.

I`m not pretending to be an expert...I just want to throw this out there. Doesn`t GM stiffen up the frame of factory t-top f-bodies to reinforce the structural stability of the roof that is lost when a substantial chunk of the roof is not there? I`d just be worried about the car in a roll-over, but please correct me if that`s completely stupid and unwarranted.

No they only added braces for the verts. That's why so many people get sub frame connectors.

ummm, i get plenty of complements on my car, plus i didnt have to spend 350 in parts + labor

My car cost $1200 less from the factory not having the t-top option.(or whatever the cost of the option was)

Cost me $350, and raised the value of my car, $700 in KBB, NADA, and even carmax free quote

Re: T-top: do it urself or bodyshop???

As for structural integrity. All f-bodies are t-top cars. Don't believe me, pull your headliner on your hardtop and see the factory weatherstripping channel, the facotry mount points for the reciever bracketss and the T-bar.

All 4th gens(excludeing verts) are t-top cars that were transformed t hardtops, with added material. All you are doing it really De-engineering the metal they added.

The metal is thin and flimsy, doesn't realy add much support. This is a 4th gen not a 3rd gen(very different).

And when ou get into weight, I am willing to say the difference in parts is so small its negligable.
