well i got that part figured out. but is one better than the other because all the pin on hoods ive seen are about 200 dollars cheaper.

I would think that it's a lift off hood, using 4 hood pins to hold it down. As oposed to one you bolt on like your stocker. Never heard of them as 'pin on' though.

here is where i found them: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=5&pcid=123

would a pin on be a bad idea to get because it would be a pain? i just dont get why the pin on hoods are so much cheaper if its just the way they are put on.

Re: pin on vs bolt on

              My guess:

Bolt on hood implies structural enhancements to mount hood brackets, latches ect... I'm guessing it has support braces all along the bottom of the hood to keep it from sagging when you open it.

Pin on hood implies a lack of much of the mounting supports. It won't attach to your OEM hood latches/brackets, and since it isn't going to be supported by the hood struts when you open it, it might not need extensive underhood bracing. It merely sits on top of the engine bay. You'd need to pin all four corners(or more) to keep it from lifting, and completely lift it off when ever you need to do under hood work(even checking fluids/air filter etc...). Kind of a pain if you're under the hood often.

My guess is the extra support material from the bolt on hood accounts for the difference in price.

The difference is in weight. Less bracing to attach hood struts and hinges allows for it to weight less and cost less.
