Firebird GT ground effects

I'm looking to purchase a 98-up Firebird convertible and would really like to have the GT package...but if I can find a car with that equipment, can the ground effects be purchased seperately?... like from GMpartsdirect?...would anyone happen to know the part numbers for those items?...thanx in advance for any help.

they made a trans am GT in 94, but thats all. are you talking about the y87 package?

Y87 is performance. W86 is the appearance package that includes the ground effects. But yes just look for one that has the w86 package.

SLP did make a V6 GT package.

and you you can still order the ground f/x from the factory but they want about 4K for the total package. GM partsdirect has them too but last time someone looked it was still like 3K for them.

Expect to pay out the nose for the factory ground FX. I think some people have priced them out at the dealer, and found the costs to be well into the $1000+ range. You would be better off just getting the Wings West, or Xenon body kit off Ebay.

actually retail on the wings west kit was bout 1K so yeah, your gonna you out the nose for the stock parts. also, wings west no longer makes the firebird or camaro kit. and correct me if I am wrong but Xenon never made a firebird kit, only a camaro kit.

Yes. The GT package is ONLY available from GM parts. And this is NOT the SLP GT package. Very few people know of this package.

The GT GFX became part of the factory RPO W68 Appearance Package in 97.

all in all it seems like it would be best to find a car with this pkg already on it...and if I'm unhappy with the color then have it painted...it seems like purchasing the parts and having them painted and installed will cost as much as an all over paint job.
