  • Need engine bay opinions

Here's what I've done so far:

    !Hood mat
    !Fuse box stickers
!AIR and serpentine belt info stickers
    Black intake manifold lettering
    Polished A/C pieces
    Polished ABS brake lines
    Polished heater coolant line
    Relocated ground wires
    Whisper lid

I need some ideas on what else to do.

I'm planning on rerouting the passenger side spark plug wires around the backside of the engine so they're not sitting there on top of the intake. Also in the future is painting the upper intake and valve covers black and polish the ribs.

I'd like to reroute those ugly pcm cables on the passenger side to somewhere less conspicuous. I know a couple people have done this from looking at the engine bay thread. How do you do this? Just tuck everything in there where the AC lines are?

And finally, I need to replace some cracking wire looms. Does anyone think it should be a different color? Or should I stick with the black?

So yeah, comments and suggestions solicited. ( I would put a banana man here but I'm only allowed 4 images lol)

what you polished was not the A/c condensor. its the receiver drier. prolly the most common mistake i hear people call that can.

        Looks like an engine bay...

I suggest some heavy cleaning + some sort of polish or shine that actually makes it look shiny.

Stick to looms that match the color of your car, nothing tacky, and nothings wrong with black looms.

The PCM wire mod; just drill a hole in the wheel well area and route them down there and drill another whole where you want them to come out.

At this point, your engine bay just looks like an engine bay. Looking at it, I wouldn't even notice the polished items.

look up the !pass wire mod. A lot of people do it, just drill a hole by your battery and by your PCM and then route the wires through the wheel well. There are some walkthroughs floating around here or on ls1tech about it.

You could try polishing the alternator and other things like loochy has done. Is engine bay looks great. Go look at that for ideas.

              Re: Need engine bay opinions

I'd put some new black wire loom in there. maybe a battery cover... polished radiator cap??? I painted my air box base silver to match my car, and painted my washer fluid cap silver to match then went over the letters and washer symbol with a black sharpie. I think it looks good..
Other than those suggestions just clean the little things that you think nobody will notice, because they will notice. Looks good right now, keep it up

With your polished pieces..instead of black wire loom..do Chrome wire loom like loochy as done....nice accent piece...

                    Re: Need engine bay opinions

start off by cleaning and degreasing everything. i use regular household "fantastick" cleaner on most stuff. it cuts through the light grease and dirt. dirtier places will need heavier cleaners. your engine bay is never clean, so just keep wiping.

youre wire loom is old and falling apart in some places. replacing it, even with black, will make a big difference. when you do it, you could also reroute some wires to cut down on clutter.

the alternator and throttle body can be removed and polished without too much effort. it takes a dremel, some sandpaper, and some polish, but its easy to learn.

i chose to loose all stickers and i made a few of my own polished covers. you might try the same.

mainly though, just clean the heck out of it!

if you havn't, put some protectant on the hoses and other plastic parts to make them shine.

wash, polish, and wax the paint under the hood.

polished radiator covers look great if you can find one.

                          Thanks for the comments everyone!

I think I've decided on sticking with the original loom color.

Waxing the painted stuff is a good idea, I'll start doing that.

Loochy...you mentioned getting a radiator cover. I've got a 98; what kind of covers are offered for my car?
