  • Need nite shades help, I made em too dark...

well, too dark for my tastes at least. I was going for the smoked look and I guess I went a little overboard in the flouresent lighting, and ya, they're way too black, sorry no pics right now but, what the hell can I do??? anyone have any experience, can I sand some of it off (it's already been cleared) and just re-clear it? I know I cant use chemicals as that would most likely melt the plastic...so Im at a loss, besides buying new lenses what can i do??

they do darken when they dry. . . you will have to sand it or buy new taillights sanding it might muck it all up

i did that too, but i wanted them black, just not to the point where NO light shined through. i wet sanded with 1000 grit but i didnt want to take off a lot. id just get 800,1000 and 1500 grit and use more than usaul amount of soap when wet sanding. i noticed the nightshade's liked more soap.

nikon do you remember how many coats you put on that made them too dark? I'm nite-shading mine soon and I want mine dark, but not to the point of light not shining through like you said.

well, I have a little bit of light shining through, like I said, they're dark, but not that dark...the bulbs shine through just fine...now I did this to the V, not the maro so I assuming it's going to be different for each lens...but, I put on 3 coats, when I should have stopped at 2...and the 3rd coat was kinda heavy because I had a small run on my second coat that I had to conceal.
