    Hey all,

I have a paint question for all of you. My dad’s van has some rust starting to develop on the back of his trunk lid. It’s not bad yet but he wants to do some work to it to try and slow it down. I have hared somewhere there is primer that you can get that is supposed to stop the rust or something would anyone know what it is??? And where I can get it?

    Thanks all
    Brian

    Re: paint/primer question

Almost any automotive primer is designed to stop rust, but you can't just spray it on top of it and expect it to work miracles. The rust spot(s) have to be sanded down to bare metal, then apply the primer.
If he isn't looking to have it professionally painted and isn't worried about appearance, then try something like Rustoleum Paint. It can be found at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

pics would help, if its bad anough it might need filler. but the rustoleum paint that hockeyman suggested is good stuff and will work fine. i know my local advanced auto has it too.

just look for a primer/sealer. I'm pretty sure all automotive primer's will have a sealer, but some don't. The sealer will help to prevent rust.
