    Re: Installing Halos

ok the lights themselves are just plug and play, now to wire up your HALO's. You have 2 choices...wire them to a toggle switch inside the car or wire them to something with a constiant 12 V source so when the cars on there on. I did mine to a toggle switch...first youl have a red and black wire coming out of each one. connect the 2 black wires together and run a single wire from those 2 directly to your battery. next take your 2 red wires connect them together and run a single wire from those 2 inside your car where ever you want you switch. connect that wire to one of the posts on the switch. now get another peice of wire and run that from the other post on the switch back through the firewall and to the positive side of the battery. and your done!! as far as connecting the wires just use the connectors. just strip the 2 wires the you need to connect maybe 1/2 on each. now just put the exposed end in the connector and use some pliars and sqeeze it tight. but now just remeber your halos will stay on all the time if you leave your switch on but i just leave mine on most of the time but not over night and it looks sick at night with just that HALO's on.

Things you need: Wire strippers $10 or you can use a knife, takes longer though

At least 23 ft. of wire. i think i used 18 gauge from the hardware store. est:$6

Some wire connectors to splice the wires together unless you can soder. can be sold in assorment. est: $3 >will have alot left over though but o well.

2 wire connectors with a "C" on the one end so it can go around the battery post. est. $2 >will have alot left over though but o well.

Also I would suggest a small in line fuse, $3

Sorry no pictures I lost my camera....... lemme kno if this helped at all...

      Re: Installing Halos

I got my halos and clear corners off ebay, as a sort of two for one deal. Unfortunatley the corners leak (only a problem when i wash my car tho), but the halos are fine :)

Now first thing to remember when installing them is that it will be a HUGE pita, so plan on wrestling with your headlights for most of your afternoon. But i guess some people have had an easy time with it, so maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones (i suppose it depends on the car, but i know mine were a pita). I'm not sure what toggle switch 99camaroSC is talking about, but i just spliced the halos into my parking lights. To do this i'd suggest buying some easy-splice connecting things (sorry i'm at work so no pictures), as stripping these wires is a bit tricky. On my car the parking light wires were very brittle, so thats why i would not strip them.

Unfortunately for some reason now my halos are only on when i lock or unlock my car... \

I'd be more help, but i'm at work and pressed for time.

        Re: Installing Halos

the switch im talking about in the car can be any kind of switch you want, toggle, push/pull, knob, just check your local hardware store. ya and it can be a little tricky especially running them through the firewall but there are already certen places where wires are already running though there so just use one of theose holes.

I assumed that you would install these replacement units with the existing wiring that the OEM lamps were connected to so when U turn on your headlamps on the rotary dial on the dash, U have lights as you did before. No?

take the clears back out. flip it over and drill various holes in the bottom. i think i put about 5 or 6 holes in the bottom of mine. water leaks right out

Okay, I give up what is a "pita"? Are you trying to say that installing these units is a difficult job?

Sorry, pita = pain in the a$$

And to 99camaro-3.8: I've thought about doing that (i read you did that in another thread)... but i'm not really looking forward to taking them out and putting them back in, let alone the headlights as well :(

I am getting the impression that it might be a better idea to bring them to a body shop for installation as they are doing this everyday when they re-construct the front end of a damaged car.
no? Headlights need to be right in terms of aim and its hard to aim them correctly without tools etc.

no need to take them anywhere. its simple. unbolt them from the bracket and put them back in. you might have to wiggle them in a little bit buts its really easy. heres a write up i did about installing clear corners but it shows you how to take the headlight off. seriously dont even think about taking it to a body shop. it is so incredibly easy and will be a waste of your money.

                        Re: Installing Halos

I just got some halos installed but I havent done the wiring for the halo yet. Mine have two red wires coming from each instead of a black and red one.

Is the wiring still the same?

hooking each cable to the other and running one either to a switch of to the signal lights?

                        Thanks

                          Anyone?

I'm hooking them up to my corner lights. On the connector there are three wires coming out of it "G" "A" and "B" which goes to which?

Which is the ground, parking, and signal?

I have two RED wires coming from my halo.

Is this where im suppose to hook them up?

                            Re: Installing Halos

EDIT: Whoa, i just realized how old this thread is! I just did some exploring and found the thread with meaty's engine swap....you must have learned a lot since this post!

If you have any type of experience with working on cars, do not take it to a body shop. It may take a couple frustrating hours to get the stock corners out and the aftermarket headlights in, but it is not difficult at all. As far as wiring, I did the same as 99camarosc with a switch in the car. I ran the wire through the existing hole in the firewall on the passenger side. You just have to unbolt the PCM and move it to the side to gain access. You can also splice into the Daytime Running Light wire for a power source, but i prefer to have control over when my Halos are on....and i also disabled my DRLs. You could also draw power from the fuse block either on the side of the dash, or under the hood. Here are pics of my wire routing and switch inside the car.

Small red wire, run under the bundle

Switch inside the car where the trac control switch was (not equipped on my car)

And if you got dual halos, like me, here is a great link to make them fit better with a spacer. And a pic of mine with the spacer installed.

                            And one installed

I also had to partly remove and realign my rubber molding to make it fit perfectly. I have also since disabled the LEDs and added 8000K HIDS. I don't have any recent pics though.
