  • Clay bar

I just noticed these small light yellow spots on the hood of my car that when rubbed with a wet rag disappear for about 5 seconds and then come back as soon as it dries.
Would a clay bar possibly take care of these? I was going to autozone today and was going to pick one up while I was there... but I've never used one before so not quite sure exactly what it's for.
    Thanks!!!

It takes contaminents off the top of the clear coat. Without knowing what is on your car it's hard to say if it will work. Either way claying your car would be good.

Claying your car is a good thing, especially if it's getting up in age. Just be sure to lubricate the paint, so the clay doesn't stick to the paint itself and cause a big mess.

Once you're done it'll feel as smooth as glass.

        thanks

do you recommend any brand over another or are they all pretty much the same?

What would I lubricate the paint with?

Lubricate with either car wash soap and water or a bottle of quick detailer. Most clay bars come with a small bottle of detailer to use. I've used mother's, mequiar's, and clay magic. I thought they were all pretty good so just grab whatever you can find.

Before you start it may be a good idea to cut the bar in half. If you drop the clay on the ground you have to throw it out because it will pick up dirt and scratch your paint.
