  • T-top keys....

Hi,I went to the next town over last night to see an old friend... Um,things got outta hand and long story short I lost my keys and its impossible to tell where. Only had three keys two of which I have another set of but only had one Ttop key so does anyone know where I can get another? Are they all pretty much universal or the same key for the same year/model or what? I always lock the tops when I put them back on so without the key I'm S.O.L .

    Thanks :)

They aren't anywhere near universal. They are the same key as your door locks. You could get the key code from a dealer based on your vin.

Ding ding ding!!! Correct! Unless it is a conversion, of course.

The only time I ever lock my t tops is when I park my car at the airport for a few days.

I'm thinking the ignition in the car might not be original along with the ignition key... This key works on neither the tops or doors and I dont think the door locks even work. If you lock them you can still open via the handle in turn unlocking the door. In this situation I guess its ok otherwise I wouldnt have been able to get in to my car without a locksmith. The tops I'm assuming are original so I guess I can go to my local GM dealer vin # in hand and they can hook me up?

          Thanks

The ignition key only works with the ignition, the VATS resistor prevents it from opening anything else. If you go to a dealer they can give you a code to get copied. If you are the original owner and popped out the center piece of the key the code is on there already and if you still have that piece you can go to a competant hardware store and they can make you one for your car.

Yeah just go to a dealership, I had to get as new door/top key and it cost me $20 for the 1 key so it's not bad for what it is.

$8.25 at the dealership to get a new key made for door/hatch/ttops. All I needed was title and ID.
