so, theres always been very small paint bubbles on the roof, along the edge where the door meets the roof....as you probably know the car has been sitting in storage for a very long time, well a week or so ago, I ripped the cover off of her to start her up and get the juices flowing, and as Im admiring I come across these huge bubbles...now I know this is somewhat of a common problem and you usually get it repainted, but for those of you that have had it.....did the dealer fix it for you? under warranty? or no? also, since Ive got the painted stripes Im gonna guess it'd be pretty hard to match what Ive got.....so should I do a t-top conversion??? or take my luck getting it painted? and hope it matches??? Im at a loss....the car needs quite a bit of work that ive been neglecting to do, rear bumper has spider cracks, somethings loose in the driver door panel, my seatbelts still dont match the rest of my interior....and it's still missing a turbo :naughty: ....I just dont have the time to mess with these things though, and the V is sucking me dry....so I ask your opinion, what to do? and no I wont sell it :p

Re: Well, Ive got the damn bubbling paint on the roof.
Bubbling paint is usually a sign of crappy (or NO) primer coat, or excessive heat under the painted area. You can get the spot(s) fixed, but it may bubble-up somewhere else later on. With the spider cracks and bubbling, I'd suggest only one thing...and you know what I'm going to say.
Is it still under warranty? Was there ever a recall for the paintjob? If so, I'd take it to the dealer asap!sigpic

Re: Well, Ive got the damn bubbling paint on the roof.
well you can cut the t tops out and have it mounted in a day. but depending on how stock you want it to look takes time. it took me about 3-4 days(few hours at a time) to do my bondo and make it perfect. then another day to prime, paint and clear coat it.
you can find everything you need on ebay. i'll add links

then your going to want a t top head liner i would aske them about the t tops also might get some kinda deal. i would say call this company. i got one for 50 buck but i picked it up. and my old head liner was pewter and i changed it to black, so i also had to change out my sun visors(another 50) and also a black rear doam light(10 bucks)

 man, y'know I might just take my chances with repainting it :p looking at the car, it just would'nt look the same without the roof matching....oh well, when I go back out to the garage Ill snap some pics of the bubbling, Ill just have to spend the big $$$ and have everything done right...thx for the tips guys.

Re: Well, Ive got the damn bubbling paint on the roof.
yeah there is a bulletin on it. it will require the shop to remove your top, clean the glue off, reinstall or replace the top, and repaint. its due to the top receiving excessive heat causing the roof glue to release gases that bubbles through.

Re: Well, Ive got the damn bubbling paint on the roof.
Originally posted by loseri know it holds it to the middle brace, and its a PAIN to get the roof off becuase of it. and i belive its on the big pillar's behind the " roof" panel ( maybe they're call B panels? ) keep us updated, alot of guys on ls1tech had problems getting it fixed. but i'd still try to stop by the dealership, its worth a shot.
well, yes and no....the spot where its happening isnt close to my stripes...but you know dealers, if they can get out of anything they will...so they'll blame it on my stripes some how...if I would've cleared the whole roof I can see that, but, I did'nt but I dunno maybee Ill run it by there and see what happens...dont have insurance on it now, so it wont happen anytime soon.
