Re: Anyone here good with Metal working?

So far I've put about 3 hours of work into them. I'd say go for carbon fiber. They are already finished and look sweet. Anyway, I ended up using a file and heavy sand paper with a block. The biggest PIA is getting any fine or deep scratches out from the surface... and now the big ordeal: polishing .

Re: Anyone here good with Metal working?

Although there is still a little bit of wavy-ness to the top edges of these things, I'm pretty satisfied now. I used a fine file, course sandpaper, a buffer with compound, and then hand polished them with Mother's billet polish. They install with locking plastic velcro which is good, because they are removeable, if I feel the need to work on them some more. They really brighten up the car. (I'll post pics when I get a chance.) Fireball, I don't know what to tell ya. I worked on these things for HOURS. If you have the time and the will power, then order em' and see how they look. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a decent set. If not, like I said, go with the cf's. We have them on the Z28 (they are cf with the Camaro logo in red) and they are beautiful. If you do end up getting the stainless ones, though, let me know how you make out. I'm curious to see if "they are all like that" with burrs and waves as fasttoys had stated.
