  • Painted Wheels?

I'm thinking about painting the aftermarket wheels I got with my car when I bought it from the previous owner. They're 18" Moda R6 wheels. They look nice, but I want to go with a darker color theme for my car. I was thinking the dark gray or graphite color paint from Dupli-Color, with glossy clear coat over it. I've seen some people in favor of painting wheels, and some not in favor. The stock wheels are painted, so what's the problem with doing it yourself?

If I was going to paint my rims I would have a shop do the work for me or at least do the clear coat on them for better protection and a better shine. Or you could probably find a local shop to powdercoat them, that would definatley look the best but I dont know if you would want to spend that kind of money on the job. Thats my 2 cents :)

I think they look BA how they are now, but if you want a darker theme, i would suggestion graphite or gunmetal. Any plans besides that for the exterior?

^^Yeah..I like them the way they are too. Maybe a bit more polished, but they look great as is!
If you are still going to paint though, I'd suggest black powdercoat.

Black powdercoat would look soooo BA on your car.

Black halos, Nightshades-tinted '93-'96 taillights (I'm the one who came up with blacking out the brake lights/turn signals and leaving the reverse lights as-is..a few other members followed my lead), Nightshades-tinted clear corners, and a '96-'97 SS spoiler.

I like the wheels, I just would like them better if they were darker.

oops, almost forgot. add a VFN fiberglass hood to that list. the stock-style hood - i figured I'd keep it simple, and also not attract too much attention.

                    Re: Painted Wheels?

I don't know about polished wheels, but while I wait until Spring to order my black Z06's, I'm going to paint/clear my stock painted wheels. I'll be putting it in my progress thread [http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=72550], within the couple weeks after I paint the car. At the rate the car is going, I should be done by the first week of November. Cheers!

i'm just saying, I made it clear that I wanted a darker color scheme. Chrome doesn't fit in there.
