  • My custom made shift boot

I made this pretty easily and you guys can too. I made this in about an hour ago. She took me 30mins to make and took me a few mins for the final touches to fit in my car. Here she is... REAL LEATHER!!!!

I also have another one that I made that should fit on the auto trans cams and birds. Let me know if you want it.

Looks good! What's it made from? Old leather jacket or something? I'd be interested to know how you did it, I like these cheap quick home mods.

my posts a little rude. sorry. :(

              lemme be more constructive.

the boot itself is pretty nice. nice stiching, etc. but its a bit too bunched up imo. try pulling a little more through the console, clean it up a bit.

im not feeling the shifter, but if you like it, then more power to you.

but i dunno what happened to your console/shifter cover. a good cleaning and some armorall might help. but if its really faded, might want to get a can of duplicolor's vinyl/interior spray paint. i did my front licenseplate bracket with that stuff and it came out pretty good.

I dunno about the whole shift boot thing. It's always looked odd to me. I like the concept, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to do it. It doesn't look like it exactly belongs there. I like the one in the Vette though because the gear plate is in the leather, which looks great and you really have to look to see whether the car is a stick or auto.

I can't see the pics, so I don't know how to respond. I like shift boots on the manual version, but I think the automatic shifter is too short for one. While my shift boot looks better than the $hitty stock plastic, it still looks too bunched up. I may have to custom fabricate a longer shifter or something.
