so your definatly not going to try to put the back on yourself? thats a bummer, keep us updated on what you do with the back.

I'm still considering it. I am just a bit skeptical because of the fact that i have to shrink it down to be form-fit to the compound curve of the rear window. I'm going to find out how much a tint shop wants for it, and chances are, i'm going to try it myself, because i keep looking at my car and wishing the back was tinted, and thinking...everyone behind me thinks my windows aren't tinted, only the people beside me do... :(

I heard it once, i think it was either 5% or 15%, i'm not really sure, i'm sure someone else knows for sure.

I'm sure everyone is sick of this thread by now, but i called up a few tint shops in the area, and only one picked up the phone. He said it would be about $100 to tint just the back, using their film.. He said he wouldn't use the piece i have, and he said that the back window was a pain in the @$$.

I wasn't really expecting any cheaper than that, but i figure i will try it myself, and there is a chance that i will be happy with it, otherwise I'll just pay the shop to redo it. I might try to tackle it soon..hopefully.

100 is a pretty good price. I paid 150 for the back window, he did it in 1 piece w/ a vinyl piece over the top defroster dots. looks really good

I decided to be legal with this one, i ordered 35%. I'm regretting the decision so far, wish i had gone with at least 20% because in most light, you can plainly see in the car.


The first window i did, the driver window, i had a little trouble with. I think it got a bit twisted in the back portion of it. Through all the ~hour of work on that window, i put a few small creases in it, which i was mostly able to get rid of, and the bubbles took a very long time to figure out how to get rid of. I had to use a heatgun on this one to shrink it down a bit, because upon installation i think i stretched it a bit, from pushing too hard with the squeegee


However, the passenger window, the second one i did, went on fairly easily and considerably faster, in fact, i would say it was probably on in about 10-15 minutes. That one looks perfect and the bubbles came out easily.

Good luck to you, it's definitely worth it... I don't know if i want to attempt the back window, if you do, tell me how it goes.

can you post some pictures? i am really curious to see it ...........i have to buy a 5 pieces set for the Mazda that i just bought .................. so, it would help me if i see how it looks? ........about the darkness, you should've asked our opinions because i have seen (driven) in both 35% and 20% .........i'd never put 35% in my car .....IMO, 20% or 15% is a good shade ................

jeez 100 bucks for 1 window? i paid 100 for all my windows to get 15% tint, i went to the inner city of chicago... much cheaper and better quality IMO

prices are going to vary GREATLY depending on where in the country you are... the Cheapest place I could find in Springfield was 260 for sides and rear. 30 minutes away, in Dayton, I found a place that would do all three for 110. Good thing I have a friend that can help me do it in Columbus for free:)

Yeah, i should have done 20, but i actually did ask a while back what was dark enough to get the effect but not decrease visibility. I got a few responses and victimizati0n sent me some pictures of his car with 35% and it looked pretty good..darker than it looks on mine.


In this pic, the lighting is good enough to make the car look real shiney, but then window hardly looks tinted. It's darker than that when the door is closed and all, but this shows as light as it can look:

I thought you meant pics of the darkness, sorry, I posted pics of the car about 20 posts back, there are pics w/the door closed and it looks pretty good. There are a few bubbles that i can't seem to get rid of at the very top, but i'm going to take a heat gun to them, and they should come out nicely.
