The hood of my car was perfect 3 days ago, not even a scratch. But when i went out to my car this morning i noticed that i suddenly had about 100 of those white paint chips all over the hood of my car. It looks like i drove behind a gravel truck while he unloaded his rocks. I'm obviously pissed and i need to fix this soon. Does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to fix those things?
I don't really want to just get some touch up paint from autozone because i would like it to look as it should again.

Oh yeah, i might need a new windshield too, how much $$$ for those?

For the bodywork, repainting, and then a windshield + installation, you're probably looking to spend somewhere between $400-$600

...thats a blower, maybe the touch up paint is looking a little better...

I know I can't be the only one who has gotten those rock chips on their car so how do you fix em? Does everyone just pay the 200-300$?

Touchup will work to some degree, but you'll still see the pits that the rocks left. The only way to repair them correctly is to sand the whole hood down, fill the small pits with a good filler, sand again, and repaint.

There is a method to touchup paint too:

There are many of websites out there to show how to apply touchup paint. The link I've posted is just one out of hundreds.

              Re: Stupid rocks

I bought the touch up paint from my GM dealer it worked pretty good like they said u can still see them and you should just get the touch up paint becuase its just gonna happen again i pretty good with the paint so most of mine are un noticable. My touch up paint is like a ball point pen or it can be a brush it matches the car perfect i keep it in there at all times just in case it was like $10:banana:

i just got had a run in with a truck too. i couldnt keep my distance due to fast express way driving. very not happy with the huge white spot on my hood.

advice: drive with a big distance between u and the car infront of u. doesnt work all the time, but helps. sh!t happens

I absolutely hate this stuff. I work pretty hard to keep my car looking as good as possible and then things like this happen to it. First it got hailed on, damaging the windshield and the entire coat of paint, and now this. Its really irratating too because its a 2002 so the paint is still bright and shiny but so many defects....

I don't even remember driving near anything that would do that to my car. No trucks, no gravel roads, nothing. I don't even remember any noise from whatever it was hitting my car.

There is a little landscaping gravel next to my driveway, maybe somebody thought it'd be fun to throw rocks at my baby. Thats not very likely because its all on the front of the car but i can't really think of anything else
