Shaved gas door?

So I searched and found nothing.

How do people shave their gas doors and relocate the new gas filler neck? Since the quarterpanel is metal, do people cut the old opening and weld in a piece of metal and finish smooth and so on? Because I don't see fiberglass holding up without cracking eventually against metal

Also options for relocating? Inside the trunk seems annoying to pop open everytime you want to fuel up, especially a slight gas smell everytime.

Could it be possible to have it between the tail lights like on old cars where a panel flips down(I have a 95 firebird btw).?? Or what?

I would really like to know how people do this.

there is a completely riced out chameleon camaro on cardomain (i know i saw the same guy in a thread on another site... forget which) where it was relocated to behind one of the taillights, which popped out.

i have mine shave and behind my driver side taillight the light is on an actuator that pushes it out

right now its green primer when it gets to the booth it will be mostly black and green with other color graphics down the sides

Lots of pictures if possible are welcomed.

Reason why this sparked my interest is I backed my Firebird into a truck over a month ago and smashed the quarterpanel where the drivers side gas door is. I am going to school for auto collision so I will learn how to easily pull it out(not that bad) but the idea of a shaved gas tank has perked my interest. So I realize its a lot of trouble for something small but I think it would be cool, especially if possible to beable to fill up between the tail lights or at least near there like on old cars

Everything accept the 22's and the air ride as well. I bag trucks, not cars. Why you might ask? Because I wouldn't be able to stand having to listen to an air compressor running somewhere inside the car all the time(or atleast until the tank is full). At least with a truck you can mount it in the bed of the truck.
