  • Waxes/Polish?

    I have;
    1997 Camaro 3.8 Chameleon(Green/Blue)

    My car has its share of small white scratches, and it seems like every time I use a paste wax like NXT it makes a bunch of white dots on my car. So my question is, what is the best wax/polish you guys have used? Can I buy touch up paint somewhere or what?

    Also, I've seen some pictures of plastic parts of the interior painted red. Such as around the air conditioner vents. Did these people buy paint and do it themselves or what?

    I've used Zaino, Car-Sealant, and Mother's, and I have been pleased with all of them. Zaino and Mother's are a bit of a pita because they are applied in two or three different phases, but the shine is unreal! I'd probably recommend Zaino.

        at this point, i've settled on mothers. yes, it takes work to apply it, then buff it off. but with an orbital buffer, i get a showroom shine. and i hand wash my car first with a soft mitt. car washes don't take off all the dirt. you could end up scratching your paint.

        as far as scratches, you can buff out small ones, and fill large ones. get the paint straight from your gm dealer. it comes in a pen like a white out bottle with ball tip. i've never tried the colour matching waxes that are supposed to fill scratches.

          I have been using Zaino for about 2 years. I think it is the best. I build up seven or eight coats during the summer and it seems to last most of the winter. They came out with a new scratch and swirl remover, Z-PC. It says not to use it very often. I have used it once by hand and it done a great job removing swirls and lite scratchs from my black Firebird.

            i painted my inteor door handles blue... i use kyrlon Fusion spray paint then a clear coat.

            bout 3-4 coats of both does the trick

            also make sure u do it in a warm room or something...

            if done in a cold area..the paint wont stick

              Okay, so what kind of Mothers wax is the best? I dont really think I can afford Zaino anytime soon. I've seen this "Mothers California Gold" and "Mothers Caranuba" Also, I used ICE polish and it worked alright.

              Does the GM paint touch up pen or whatever come with complete instructions on how to use it or what?

                  Are you saying the wax is leaving scratches or you are having a hard time removing all of the wax.

                  If you are getting scratches from waxing then you have an issue with what you are applying the wax with, what you are removing it with, or the car not being clean. If you are having a hard time removing the wax try using a liquid wax. Don't apply wax in the hot sun and wait until it get a slight haze then wipe it off.

                  I use NXT wax and a variety of Meguiar's polishes. If you are looking for touch up paint try www.paintscratch.com they are excellent for hard to find colors.
