Okay, so I'm trying to paint around the air vents and center console. I'd like to make it red as I've seen it on some Camaros.

    Example http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...lr%3D%26sa%3DG

One of my friends said just take it off and spray paint it red. But what kind of paint do I need and all that?

Duplicolor interior paint. And I would also suggest sanding it down first.

Okay, should I use a primer on it first? And clear coat it after? I've seen several Camaros that have this done, did they all paint them themselves or what?

There are places that do it professionally.

And yes, use primer first and make sure there are no imperfections and it's all smooth. And you can use a clear coat when it's all said and done, but it isn't needed. I have interior painted that has been done since 99 and it still looks new and it has no clear coat

Doesn't that chip off after a while? I can't see how it would stay looking nice..

Check out Duplicolors website. They have special paint for interior plastic, which I used over a year ago and it still looks perfect. They just recommend that the plastic is just cleaned really well and sprayed with their adhesion promoter, not primer. There are videos you can watch on the site too.

be careful making it too shiny on top of the dash area... when the sun glints off of it, it sucks
