Questions about the front air dam on 98'+ models:

1. How is the fitment? (In one pic I saw of an angled Camaro, it looked like there was a gap issue in the front). Haven't seen ANY "front-on" pics of the air dam... especially looking down on it.

2. One site on ebay claims to sell an underbody air dam with it to direct the flow of air to the radiator. What's that all about? Any pics of it?

3. Does this front air dam stick out on the sides or what??

I cant speak for anyone else but the fitment on mine was pretty much perfect to me and I am a perfectionist when it comes to my car.
The air damn your probably talking about is the one that comes with the kit to replace the factory air deflector (The piece that always scrapes on speed bumps driveways ect..) The one that comes with the kit is longer so that it will still gather the air from under the front lip. Although I think the stock one would probably work fine I did install it anyway just to be sure. I dont really understand what you mean by stick out on the sides??? Heres all the pics of the front lip I have on my computer so mabye you can get a better idea of exactly how it looks...... I would just go out and take some more pics for you but my front lip is in the trunk of my brothers lincoln right now since it got ripped off when I drove through a big pothole about a month ago any way here are the pics.

Thanks! That helped a lot. :tup: Car looks GREAT! It does appear to curve out on the front corners a little, but it looks pretty "rounded". The thing that's driving me nuts is that I don't see a seam around the front of the fog light area. Which leads me to the next question: Is this an entire front bumper or is it only the bottom lip?? Also, how many inches lower does it hang from the body? That sucks that you knocked it off, and that's another thing I need to consider. (thanks again, I appreciate the help).

It isnt a full bumber just a lip. its on so tight and has such a good fitment in that area that it actually looks like 1 piece. Im not sure how many inches lower it is than stock but when I see my brother tomorrow ill measure it and let you know. Mine got ripped off because I really just wasnt paying attention like I should have, I really havent had many problems with clearance expect for that night which was really my fault for being in a rush and driving through a pothole. The pothole was filled with water so I didnt realize just how deep it was after it happened I looked at the pothole and it was more like a crater probably about 12 inches deep and 3 feet wide :mad: my car is lowered to so that didnt help. But oh well **** happens I guess.

seems everyone who goes with ground effects at least nicks the front one once. i thought i would be the exception and never hit anything, but i tapped a parking stump not too long after i got mine. i got it repainted, and i havnt done it again since.

^ Funny that you said that because I have never bumped or scuffed the gfx on my 96' (knock on wood) but after only 1 week of having the 02', I scuffed the whole passenger side corner of the gfx on a curb. I eventually had the whole kit painted and a 6" long key scratch repaired on the door. Total: $1300. :EEK: I probably should have gotten a new front piece at the time (this was over the summer) but it was too much to think about and I didn't want an even bigger bill to pay for prep, paint and install.

BTW, Maro99, I have to be honest: I absolutely LOVE the way your car looks. I want mine to be similar but different (I don't like to copy/copycats) ;) But I have installed the black halos and they are bad as hell. I noticed this morning that people were checking out the car much more with the halos in.. the heads were a-turnin'. I also installed a carbon fiber grill for the front end. I was thinking of eventually painting it body color, but now it goes VERY well with the black halos. I also "might" get different wheels. This is a maybe because I do like the stock 16" chromers that are on there (makes it look classy), so I may just get some new BFG KDW's on them instead, not sure, but... there is pitting on the insides of the wheels and some tiny specs on the surfaces that can be seen up close, so not sure on that one. Although, now the car looks "mean" with those halos, so maybe bigger wheels are in order. Just don't know what to get. I've decided that I don't want any OEM type wheel again. I already have Z06's on the 96'. Either way, the front end and the tires/wheels will be next on the list.

I was looking at the RK Sport air dam (and a friend of mine has it). It's decent, but I think I want something that's flashier for the front end. The RK Sport one doesn't look much different than stock except that it wraps around completely. The Vizage is nice too, but those openings don't match up with lines of the body. I like the Xenon, but I don't want a whole front bumper. The WW seems to be about the best choice for the easiest install, the looks and the fact that it goes nicely with the grill because of the centered opening.

Thanks:naughty: The halos do make a hell of a diffrence they look ten times better than the chrome stockers in my opinion. I almost got the carbonfiber grill to but decided on the slp instead. For wheels I would say definatley get some 18's or 19's black with a chrome lip to accent the halos and grill. (I wish I would have done that) As far as the gfx's they have for camaros I have to say by far I like the wings west the best. I used to have the vizage kit on my last 98.... I liked the rear but your right the front and sides didnt flow with the lines of the car very well. I think RK sports would be next then the Xenon. I didnt see my bro today but ill get that measurment for you as soon as I do.

I paid a total of $510.00 shipped for my whole kit off of ebay. You should wait until you can find a better deal on a used one off of ebay and you could get a much better price. Unless you are as impatient like me and cant wait. If I find a better deal on it ill let you know.
