youre nuts, it fits the lines of that car perfectly. i think it'd look good on any car as long as its painted.

Re: Pics of ViS carbonfiber hood installed on a Firebird *pix*

Hey guys, that is my car...

Thanks for all the positive comments...

To clarify a few things, first off I needed functionality over asthetics (the car has a 383ci supercharged motor with nitrous setup that puts out over 750hp to the wheels on blower alone, and the nitrous is a progressive 200-350 shot, thus getting heat out of the engine compartment is my primary requirement), but could not bring myself to spend the money on any of the other cowl hoods out there as they were just disgustingly ugly on firebirds, and the only decent hood I liked was WAYYY too expensive (a mecham for 93-97s that is over $1k before shipping, and questionable quality)...

So, when I found this design I ordered one up and got it in last week...

The fit is perfect, the carbon fiber only has a couple of small flaws, both are only 1 stitch in diameter and require the proper light to see them...

As for other issues, they did not have locating holes drilled in the bottom for the hinges, the slot for the latch was missing and it does not have provisions nor a cast-in plate for the safety latch, so it pretty much requires hood pins... I have made the required modifications to allow a properly mounted safety latch on mine...

There is also no provisions for hood struts... As in they removed the mounting pads for the struts all-together... And the only solid fiberglass ribs on the bottom are around the perimeter, so the center ribs do not have much strength to use struts of any strength... But I am working on another solution...

Also, the hood will be painted mostly black to match the car... I am working out the details on exactly what I want to leave carbon fiber, as well as what other modifications I want made to the hood...

Since there has been some interest in the wheels, they are a one-off set of Boyd Coddingtons, in 17x9.5 up front with 17x11 out back, with custom blank billet center caps... And for reference, anything larger than 17s causes a performance hit, so 17s are what I went with... Traction is pretty much non-existent as it is if I am not careful with the throttle, so I need any and all available traction I can get, and 315 drag radials fit the bill on the street...

For reference, the rest of the car is as built as the motor, as it has a Strange S60 rear end with 3.54 gears (with the amount of torque available I went with as low a ratio as I could get), S&W Racecars subframes/torque-arm setup, C5 Z06 brake upgrade, full suspension setup (springs/shocks/sway bars/control arms/panhard bar/airbags and controller), onboard air compressor/tank, full -10an feed, -6an return fuel system with full-time cooler, large griffen radiator, Delteq ignition system, MSD DIS-4 Plus igition w/MSD coils, and I am finishing up the new stereo system which includes full matting and closed cell foam covering of the entire interior, 3 ESX Quantum old-school amplifiers (2700 watts rms), 2 12" TC Sounds subs, CDT components, Alpine IVA-D900 headunit, PXA-H701 processor, NVE-872A navigation and even a rear-view camera... There is also a bunch of tricks that required a ton of engineering to pull off (like 2 2-way toggle switches that control 6 functions total, such as nitrous arm, purge, bottle opener, linelock, borla valve control and street-strip mode, hidden gauges, hidden switches to multiplex functionality, airbag control switching, etc...)...

I'm wondering how people are liking the taste of thier own foot...

I like the hood, i love WS6's but never warmed up to the "4-nostril" thing. I do like carbon fiber, and on a black car i think you can get away with not painting it. If anyone points and laughs at "the ricer" you can blast them with your 900+ run:spank:

There is also a bunch of tricks that required a ton of engineering to pull off (like 2 2-way toggle switches that control 6 functions total, such as nitrous arm, purge, bottle opener, linelock, borla valve control and street-strip mode, hidden gauges, hidden switches to multiplex functionality, airbag control switching, etc...)...
                                back on topic here...

nice car for sure. how do you like the deltech? ive heard some good things some bad, but mostly good about it. got any pics of the engine bay? from the sounds of it, its a beast.
