actually the ones I currently have are like that...they're ventshade brand. I'm trying to sell them because I don't like them...I'm looking for ones that go just inside the headlight enclosure and don't overlap.

thanks for calling me a moron. I had a question and I thought others who actually had headlight covers could give their input...not people who doubted they would give any MPG gains, despite having no experience with them and then throw insults.

I'm driving 5000 miles round trip so if you do the math, if they were to save me as little as 1 mpg I'd save up to 50 bucks in gas (based on the higher cost of fuel in Canada) which would probably cover the cost of the headlight covers, making them an appearance mod that paid for itself.

I have headlight covers, I gave you my input... So did others.

Now, if you already have the covers that cover the whole thing, why are you asking? shouldnt you already know... and to change it to the kind that just go inside the housing, like mine... would be for appearance reasons, which you said you didnt really like. Your not making much sense.

so everyone from this post on should either Lie to you & say yes you get better mileage, or dont post at all.

Re: improved fuel efficiency with 93-97 headlight covers?

to answer your question: I have them, but have not installed them because I don't like the fact that I have to velco them on to my car...I have white paint and the smoke lenses aren't dark enough to cover up the velcro underneath that heavily contrasts with my white car. Therefore, I haven't had any experience with whether or not the improve gas mileage, hence why I asked the question.

I didn't ask anyone to lie to me. I didn't ask anyone to answer in any particular way. All i'm trying to say is that when I asked the question and worded it the way I did, I wasn't asking for people to make comments that I was a moron. Maybe you should just go around calling everyone in this forum a moron for asking things they'd genuinely like to know about.

Re: improved fuel efficiency with 93-97 headlight covers?

i think they would just slightly slightly maybe save some gas milage. But if you have them, put them on if not just for the trip, just incase they do end up saving you some money. With a 5000 mile trip, the slightest change in mpg would help a lot. I have them, and think they look great, but i keep them off for the winter because the wet dark nights, the headlights don't work hardly at all. In dry they still work at least a little bit..

Basically, I would put them on for the trip, but if you're going to be doing night driving, i would get some driving lights in place of your foglights, or at least get fogs that are an improvement over stock, cuz the covers will drastically reduce visibility.

Yeah I totally want to get better fog lights or driving lamps. I'm currently looking to put driving lamps in the place of my fog lights, because even without the headlight covers on I have poor visibility. I want to go with driving bulbs in the fog light sockets...but I don't know if this is even possible.

I still believe a plug/wire replacement, a clean air filter, oil change, and the right amount of air in your tires will save much more than some headlight covers

                            +1

just do a regular maintenance tune up. another good thing to do is clean your fuel injectors. you can get the stuff that you pour in your gas tank, or go to a regular shop and they can do a 3-step injector system cleaner process that completely cleans it out.

I added seafoam to my fuel system, and drove the same way i always have and surprisingly got 70 more miles to a tank than my average.
