  • hand polished my hood struts and custom rewire kit

saw that someone on camaroz28.com did this but also depressurized them but i decided just to polish them, im also working on the ones for my hatch but havent had time to finish. they look almost chrome and i could see my reflection everytime i walk by them but the pics dont give them much justice. it took about and hour to an hour an 15 minutes to do both the fronts, the ones in the hatch are pretty big though and im doing them while theyre still on the car anyway ill shut my mouth and show you some pics

my rewire kit i just got a a 24 inch piece of 4 gauge wire and a terminal for the ground and a 36 inch piece of 4 gauge wire and another terminal that goes to the alternator

next i got a side mount battery terminal from napa that has 2 tightening screws had to get ride of the red rubber cover for this but oh well
then i had to cut the wire that goes to the starter i think and splice it in with the other 2- 4 gauge wires and squeez them all into the little bat. terminal then i basically just rerouted them the same as the old wires

    comparison:

Slice connecting the 24 inch and the 36 inch wires:

nice.. i want shiny hood struts.

i'd rather buy new chrome ones if they made them.

I too have polished my hood struts. They are pretty easy, it just takes time. Just sand off the black paint and start polishing. I was worried at first, but they can out pretty good.

yeah, maybe its just the pics, but they still look a little "brushed"

what grit did you go up to. i would suggest working all the way up to 2000 grit, or at least 1500, and then laying on some mothers aluminum polish (the polish is the key)
