  • tint on the dot matrix..

I recently (finally) got my hatch tinted.. $70 ()

the only thing is that in the dot matrix area it's obviously quite bubbly because they were unable to get the tint to stick in all of those different levels and stuff...

What did everyone else do? for $20 they will cut out the top and paint it black up there, or i could do it myself.. they said they can't do anything about it other than that..

What do other peoples tint look like up there?

alot of people just use a strip of black vinyl for that reason, paint will work though.

i've heard that they can't do anything about it, same thing on my sister's car, but then again i've seen cars where it doesn't bubble and sticks perfect. Some guys tell me it can't be done, and there nothing you can help, but some tell me that when they put the tint on, if they sponge the area over and over eventually it will stick. ??? I'm not sure, but i think the vinyl would be better.

ive heard of people sanding the matrix down and it helps the tint stick better.

mine did that and they said they couldnt do anything about it but they do have a special paint to were they can cut the tint off where the dots begin and paint over them, they did that for free for me and it stunk for a little bit but it looked WAY better and no more ugly bubbles

Re: tint on the dot matrix..

When I had mine done they used some kind of water based glue. If I have a problem they will replace it. So far so good.

they said it light-meters out at 32%...called 38%...i wanted to stay legal with this..me being young driving a nice black sports car..with the black paint the windows look darker anyway.. It looks a ton better than without, sure i wish i could go darker, but cops around here actually care.. :(

did you try running your fingers along the tint near the top? not like real hard, but just rub the tint to get it to stick closer... got rid of alot of the dots for me

I took it back to the tint place and they touched it up..this is as good as they could get it, or so they say.
