  • My new shorty!

Well, I decided I was sick of how huge the stock antenna is, and also got sick of having no reception when i took it off, so I decided to shorten it up :)

I cut it where I wanted, took the ball off the top, grinded the new top down so the ball would fit on, put it on, painted it all black, and vuala!

Looks good. I was tired of the same thing, so I got a power antenna from a Trans Am on ebay. I just had to fab up a few brackets to make it work.

It's about a foot long now, i think i took close to two feet off, but i'm not sure.

wait so if u just cut like 12-14" out off ur antenna how do u get the little ball back onto the top once u shave it down? And wont the reception blow?

I just ripped the ball off the stock sized antenna, then used a grinder to reduce the diameter of the new top and just jammed the ball on. I couldn't get it off, so i figured it was tight enough. As for reception, I have no idea. I'd imagine it's worse, but I have yet to use my radio in the 11 months I've had the car, so reception is no biggie for me.
