Im getting my dads 97 firebird. Its a chameleon green right now but its kind of fading, doesnt change much anymore. My friends dad is going to start painting cars in thier backyard. All i have to do is pay for the paint and he will do it for me. I want either a chameleon color, or a sunset orange. It would be helpful if anyone has any ideas, pictures, or websites they know that have paint for sale. I know most of you will probably tell me to paint it a basic color like, black or red or something but i want it to be different, but still look good. I plan on getting black rims so i want those to work with the color also.

Re: Firebird Paint
This may just be pointing out the obvious but i dunno.. maybe you're stupid? Have you tried washing/waxing/and polishing the car?
If you go with the paint then stick with the chameleon green.. its kinda rare. If you wanna see what a good orange looks like tho check out Big Tymers car.

Re: Firebird Paint
Yeah, if there is clearcoar still there try polishing it out. My vote is stick with the same color if you repaint since it's rare. I also wouldn't be his first backyard paint job. Wait till he does another car and see if you would be satisfied with the finished product.

Re: Firebird Paint
he used to work at a bodyshop, painting cars, so its not his first time.
no need to call me stupid.
and i just dont like the color, even when my dad first got it it never changed all that much, it just basically looks green with a little purple or blue every once in a while.

Re: Firebird Paint
Different but still look good, huh? Most people would have a good point telling you to keep it basic. The trick is to probably go with an offshoot of a basic color. Don't just do red but the deepest darkest red you can find. Maybe not white but what about a pearl color. If you still must have a different color altogether you could always go with that burnt orange color. I guess it's called sunset orange. I think that was a factory option color but I'm not sure You don't see very many of those at all and it would look good with black rims. Just my opinion.

Re: Firebird Paint
thanks, i actually think i mentioned i wanted maybe a sunset orange type of color. but yea, like i said, anything different is pretty much what i want, and all i have to do is buy the paint, so it wont cost me much. ill see if i can find some sites with shades of other colors, the question now is, what color, lol.

Re: Firebird Paint
as for the pricing of the chameleon paint, i cant really figure that out, i found a couple sites but they were kind of confusing and most didnt have pictures of what the color looked like. Another question i have is, does anyone know about how much paint is going to be needed to do the whole car?
and as for the black, i was thinking of going all black, black rims, black paint, black light covers and all that but, its kind of a little too much for me.
