I'm getting my windows retinted tomorrow :D Bought friggin time :P Anyways, how dark should I go? They're supposedly cracking down on it here in FL, so I don't want to get into trouble. But, I usually ride windows down, so I don't think I'll get pulled over much, unless it's for my back hatch. I was thinking 15% all around would be good enough, what do you guys think?
BTW- The guy doing my tint is a friend of mine, so he's not going to care much about how I do it, unlike some.....
Ya, my dad's truck has 5 on it. At night you can't see ****! I was thinking 15 on the front windows and 10 on the back, or maybe 20 on the windows and 15 on the back, or do you think I should stay the same all the way around? He's coming over today at 12:30ish to do it :D
I agree, it should be uniform...Do NOT do the windscreen.
Remember GPS (GARMIN) units cannot see through the tint.
I would leave a small section by the outside mirrors UNDONE
I did and I was glad I did! Also, you can get silver appearing
on the outside of the window rather than black...I did and I am glad I did.

Really? I didn't know that. I'm glad I read this before I finished mine. I just did the hatch glass and working my way forward. I guess I'll skip the front. Thanks!
I'm going with 20 just for the simple fact its legal. The difference between 15 and 20 is ticket or no ticket. Forget 5... i had that on my malibu and I couldn't see a lick at night... especially when you live in the country.

I have 5% on my rear window, and while it IS really dark at night, I've learned to use my side mirrors. In New York, the rear window can be as dark as you want as long as you have 2 side mirrors. I'd say get 5% on the rear, and 20% on the side. I don't think different shades look bad, especially since our rear window is so large.

I think this only applies to metallic tints. There are some tints that have metal flakes in it and those can mess up GPS as well as radar detectors. I think your fine as long as you tell the person doing your tint that you have GPS and need a tint that wont interfere with that.
Well, got 15% all around, and it looks amazing. The stuff that was on there before (came with the car) he though was somewhere around 30%, and it had a purple tint to it.....purple and red don't go together :P . Anyways, before he did my back window, I told him I had a CB antenna I wanted to put back there. He said the tint won't affect it in anyway, and that when he does Cop Cars, he just sticks the antenna on there with the tint on (through-glass mount antenna). Just got home, sat in my driveway for a few minutes telling a guy on my CB where the closest Wal-Mart was :D. I can't get pics till Tues or Wed though, cuz my girl has my camera, and she's in Spain :( 20% is the legal limit here in FL, so I got 1 shade darker. He said the cops usually will let you go with that since it's not much darker, and that he's done it to many other cars without any complaints.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
