I am starting my sub install and I was just wondering how to remove the panel above the dead space on the drivers side by the t-tops. I have an 02 with no monsoon system. I stuck my arm in the space where the panel meets the other one near the seat belt and felt some clips, but i dont want to pull too hard and break something. Any suggestions?

Re: Removing rear panel
Do you mean the panel running along the back underneath the hatch? If so you untwist all the slots ontop of the panel then lift the back and slide it forward. The panel is hooked into the panel up by the seat belts.

Re: Removing rear panel
It sounds like you are describing the panel covering the spare tire. I can remove that one extremely easily. I am refering to the one on the opposite side (driver's side). It has no locking, twisting tabs....it is all smooth on the top, and it seems to be held in at the seams by the seat belt with some sort of clips.2002 Camaro A4
K&N FIPK
Ravin exhaust
15.64 @ 90.11 MPH

_ _ ___________________ _ _
2004 Quicksilver/Black GTO M6
Stock except !CAGS

Re: Removing rear panel
the Drivers side i think just comes out basically the same way just pull up on it, watch the front of the panel by the seat belt tho, it has tabs there that can break.Check out my cardomain site!
My Car

Re: Removing rear panel
That was my concern exactly...I definetly dont want to break the tabs. Is there a way to push them through from the back?2002 Camaro A4
K&N FIPK
Ravin exhaust
15.64 @ 90.11 MPH

_ _ ___________________ _ _
2004 Quicksilver/Black GTO M6
Stock except !CAGS

Re: Removing rear panel
Since you said you were installing subs, my guess is that you just want to run your cabling under the panel/carpet around the back seat? That's how I did mine at least... I found that I didn't need to take the paneling off at all to do this. Been a couple years, but I believe I just took the plastic floor trim in the door off to pull up the carpet, then stuck my arm in there up along the seat as far as I could reach to loosen it up. Then use a straightened coat hanger and push it through into the trunk. Hook your wires onto the coat hanger, and pull them through. Worked like a charm for me, and much easier than taking panels off. I think I ran my 4-channel amp wires on the drivers side, and my sub wires on the passenger side though.
Hope this helps...http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2182744

quote:
I\'ll procrastinate later...

Re: Removing rear panel
I had this exact same idea but I didn't know if it was possible. Thanks for proving me wrong. I won't get around to the install for another 3 weeks or so, but I will probably post up pics of the finished product. Right now I have a custom stealth box in the works, as well as a custom amp rack. I will be running a 10" kicker CVX powered by a 600W RMS, 1000W MAX Pioneer mono amp.2002 Camaro A4
K&N FIPK
Ravin exhaust
15.64 @ 90.11 MPH

_ _ ___________________ _ _
2004 Quicksilver/Black GTO M6
Stock except !CAGS
