  • Window is off track...

For anyone who has taken apart their door (I'm like a pro at it ), you probably know that the window is held in place by three guides. Two of the guides are rollers that go on one strip of metal that help the window go up and down. The other guide helps the window from sliding back and forth, on a metal bar that goes up and down. This roller has broken off from the part where it attaches to the window. So I can move my window side to side, but it still goes up and down fine. But anyways, can this part be replaced easily? It looks like it is connected to the window, and the only way to repair it is to get a whole new window. I was wondering if anyone out there has fixed this an easier way? My dad tried welding the piece, but he thinks they are two different metals that won't weld together. Any help?

      Go to dealer
Order new window bracket and rivets
Pay dealer 2 hours labor to remove glass, swap bracket and reinstall

You could get a junk yard window, it should come with the bracket and post still attached (assuming it's not broken too) and try to replace it yourself. I didn't have much luck getting the glass out however.

I welded a small washer onto the metal plate on the window, tapped/threded the guide so a bolt would fit through, then bolted it through the washer. Worked fine ever since.

LOL that's great! I think I spent about $160 getting that fixed.
