  • Not a virgin to the clay anymore

Well I finally had some free time today, actually I need to study for a final I have tomorrow, but I decided that claybarring my car would be more fun!

Here are a few pics after claybarring. I'm taking a break right now, but gettin ready to apply some wax. Will post pics after the wax.

I was really impressed at the simple fact I could hear the bar grabbing the particles off the paint. I don't think my paint was in that bad of shape but I didn't get rid of a few minor blemishes in the paint. A few scratches appeard more after gettin the wax off, but I really reccomend claybar to anyone that appreciates their car.

And I want to thank those on the board with the information they have provided. If it wasn't for this forum then I wouldn't have had any clue on using the clay bar or even what it was. Thanks guys

You should peel the Firebird emblem off behind your drivers window, its half gone as it is.. and would look better if it wasnt there at all.

Congrats on popping your cherry. It's amazing how much a claybar will pull off a car that has never been clayed.

Ive thoguth about doing it myself, but I will be repainting my car soon so I dont think there will be a point in doing it now. Your car looks good so far man. Im sure the wax job will top it off nicely. What kind of wax will you be using?

Re: Not a virgin to the clay anymore

Thanks guys, as for the pillar bird, Yes it is coming off pretty soon. I'm thinking about gettin chrome one to match the chome inserts/decals... or I may just take it off and leave the pillar plain. What do you guys think?

The clay bar was from Mother's and so was the wax. I was gonna by some NXT but the clay bar came with Mother's carnuba wax... and well its a small bottle and I thought since I didn't spend ALL DAY like I usually do on my car, that I'd just use the Mother's wax and get some NXT for the next time.

Here are a few pics after the wax. I only put one coat... started to do two but man its like 80 degrees outside and I've really got to start studying for my final. Please excuse the chips in the paint on the front... and you can see where some clear coat is coming off near the driver's side headlight.

Re: Not a virgin to the clay anymore

As you can see, I through on the rear PONTIAC inserts. I hate these cheap ones and will eventually get the thick ones but for now I had these and didn't want to throw them away.

I also need opinions on rear blackouts...

I took the blackouts off while cleaning and after the inserts I think they look good off the car. But then again, I really like them on the car. What do you guys think, keep them on or keep them off?

                        I see swirls :p

I vote just honeycombs. No blackouts.

leave the blackouts on for sure, it will look good with or without the lettering.
