  • replacing front left fender

Hello everyone, I own a black 97 Camaro RS, and recently I got into a very low speed accident which ended up putting a hole in my left fender and denting my bumper. I was looking on the internet to see if there were any websites that sold fenders for my car. I found a few,
    http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...2&brandid=4036
to be specific, and a couple sources up on ebay, claiming that they already have the fenders primed and ready to be painted.

The main question is what would be the best bet for buying a replacement fender, or if those sites acutally are legit?

Try and find an OEM replacement. Going to a junk yard and picking up a fender there and getting it painted will probably yeild you better results than any aftermarket fender off ebay or whatever. Doesn't look like that link is OEM but i could be wrong as i didn't look very closely. You have a lot bigger chance of the fitment being off if you get an aftermarket fender so you're best getting OEM.

i spent a lot of time looking around junkyards for a front bumper. they either didnt have a 93-97 camaro or it was already in bad shape. i ended up getting a front primed bumper from that site. since they claim they have "110% lowest price guarantee" you can check out the other similar sights, and compare prices. you should be able to drop the price of what they ask. all the sites have about the same price. they put you hold forever. the bumper fit well, same size as original, gaps were normal.

I just swapped my fenders and bumper. I got aebay fenders and OEM bumper. I recommend going with the OEM fenders. Mine work but the lines are off ever so much. The guy at the dealership sold me the front bumper for 300. I foget what it listed for but he always cuts me breaks. Maybe you could go up there and talk to them and see if they can get you a deal. If you get it through them shipping is free to your local GM store.

ok thanks for the advice everyone, i was also noticing that some of the parts are "CAPA" certified, and some arn't. It's about a 50-100 difference between the two. I'm mainly just concerned if I were to buy the peice that everything would line up right,(bolt holes and such). Maybe the CAPA is the better bet, i have no clue =P

all the holes lined up on my bumper. there was no problem putting on the fogs, corner or headlights. there was a slight difference in the areas the bolts as far as design goes. i think i just got lucky that my bumper came out extremely close to the original. when i was ordering the bumper, i asked what that meant. "it means that its is certified and more safe". when i asked how it was more safe they answered " it just is". they do not know their products. they will just read you the information that is posted on the sites. my guess is that the call center is in the PI, that goes for all the companies.

What ever you do dont buy from them. A$$holes screwed me over on my rear fender for a 00 silverado. Dumba$$es send me a dully fender. I was even talking to them live on-line and they confirmed it was the part I was needing stupid maria and steven. Now they want me to pay for shipping to get my money back and loose the shipping charges.
You have been warned. Buy somewere else.

the sites that say free shipping, when i talked to them they said if i wanted to return a part, it would be free. the sites that did not offer free shipping said that i would have to pay shipping if i wanted to return an item. you are going to need a lot of patients if you want to deal with those people. shipping is slow as hell. OEM is the way to go if possible.

there is a discontinued parts warehouse that all us dealers can buy from. but they charge freight and what ever they want for the part. and i belive they still have it.
