  • Since LEDs seem to be the rage these days...

I figured I'd post up some pics of my blue LED interior. Did this back in December of 06. Enjoy.

I like it...looks a little dim in some areas...did you have to solder in new led's for the Odometer?

Re: Since LEDs seem to be the rage these days...

Yeah it's not perfect with the light dispersion, but it's good enough for me. What I did was just yank all the white bulbs and their sockets and then solder in LEDs in all those spaces.

BTW the car turned 200,000 miles old yesterday. It can get up and go pretty well. ;) At the track a couple weeks ago I was beating a 2006 V6 Eclipse, Acura RSX-S, and bolton 5.0. That was while overheating to 280* and with 3 teeth broken out of the rear pinion. (got those fixed). These cars are tanks. :D

Quite honestly, I'm not 100% sure. I think they might have been 5mm? Coulda gone bigger/brighter though.

I still wanna know how to switch the odometer colors. I too soldered all LEDs in by hand, back before the replacement "194 led" bulbs were popular. I bet its sooo much easier to swap to a blue dash now. Odometer is the only thing I never really looked into.

The odometer has a red film attached to its backside. You have to scrape/pry that film out.

                        Found this writeup http://www.ledgauges.com/id26.html

So did you not replace surface mount LEDs on the circuit board?
