  • Battery Acid On My Car

Okay really dont know where to post this so im sorry if its not correct, but I looked under my hood yesterday to check my coolant and I saw a spot where I guess my battery hit my frame right before my headlight and sloshed battery acid on it. it looks like its been there for a while. and I was wondering how I would go about removing this? I saw online where baking soda works but cant find any proof of this working. any one wanna help?

Putting a base on an acid would make sense.

Yes, a paste of baking soda in water will fizz up and neutralize the acid. Rinse well with clean water after to remove all residue - the byproduct of the reaction is a salt which could cause further corrosion.

basically yes... as stated, the baking soda will neutralize the corrosive effects of the acid. and lots of water help rinse the area afterwards.. keep adding a bit of baking soda until it no longer fizzes..

its just the sort of thing where sometimes you're sitting there like "wow, these people didnt pass 2nd grade english!"

its one thing when you dont capitalize a word or something, but its completely different when you type the wrong word... (two, to, too or their, there, they're, etc.)

While on the subject, let us not forget proper punctuation and avoidance of run-on sentence structure. Good grammar is our friend, young man. ;)
