Don't touch it again. Take it to a shop and have it professionally buffed out the correct way. You taking an orbital buffer to the car sounds like a scary proposition. If you catch an edge or burn through the paint, you'll be in a far worse situation than you are in right now...
If the pad on your polisher is turning the color of the car you are taking off paint not clear. Once that's done all that can fix it is repainting. Wetsanding and using a rotary are not for amatuers.

well the polish i was using was dye coloured black and meant for black cars...so yea, couldnt tell at the time.
and i know this kind of stuff isnt for amateurs...I just like tryin to do things myself and yes i know it was a stupid mistake, but I watched a guy at the shop do it to a panel of my car and it looked easy and sweet.
it didnt look too bad the smorning actually...so right now im gunna go out and wash her down and try and snap some pics...then maybe you guys might be able to diagnose it better...whether its completely ruined and needs a new paint job or whether I should start lookin for a detailer...or maybe I still have a chance in fixin my mistake :p
haha...never had a chance to the get the pics, sorry bout that...Just an update though...I managed to fix the sucker...SO, for future reference, if ANYONE...is as stupid as me, this is how you fix the mistake lol...I grabbed a hold of some rubbing compound, and applied it to the whole hood, then I used polishing compound on it, swirl remover (as suggested by some) then NuFinish...and damn, she looks better then when I first bought the car...I love it.
Ok I got a new question relating to this...My front bumper is really flexed, has a million stone chips...Instead of getting it painted for like 300$...I was thinking of getting some touch up paint, wet sanding it, using rubbing compound, polishing compound, swirl remover, polish, then a wax...would that make the touch up paint really blend in with the rest of the paint thats already there...making it look like it wasnt touched up?
yea...but Im worried that when I spend 300 to get it painted its only going to re chip, and its black paint so its really noticable...why wouldnt the touch up idea work...Id technically be adding more paint then im taking off...so that fact that there isnt much paint on the bumper to begin with shouldnt really matter should it?
