  • Hood Question

Hey guys, I have a 97 camaro 3.8. And I was thinking about getting a different hood since mine needs repainted anyway, and I dont like the plastic hood scopes. Would a hood made for a z28 or SS offered by some of these online stores be a direct bolt on? Such as the ram air type hood and all that? Or is there some fabrication involved?

    Re: Hood Question

A Z28 or SS hood of the same body style will bolt on. However depending on where you get the hood there could be some body work involved to get it to line up perfectly.

Okay. What do you guys think about a hood like this one? Would it work and bolt right up?

The 4th one down, the cowl one. Whats the difference between the pin on and bolt on?

Okay, can you tell me what the difference is between the pin on and bolt on one? Because theres a 100$ price difference? Any other hoods you know of that look cool?

              Re: Hood Question

You want bolt on. It will open the same as the stock hood. Pin on is for drag racing, remove a series of pins and the hood "lifts" off.

                    Re: Hood Question

go with the SS hood. imo they are overplayed on 98-02's, but they look great on the older body style!

make sure to go with a reputable company. im not pleased with the hood that i got.

pretty sure with a 4" cowl you will run into visibility issues
