    Re: anybody with shaved handles?

I did mine 5 years ago and haven't had one problem with cracking. If you do it right there shouldn't be any problems. I had to deal with frozen doors when it was my daily, and climbed in through the hatch. I mounted my solenoids in the same spot and put the poppers in the lower corner of the jamb, but mine are only 35lbs and work great. I can't find my pics at the moment but I will post some up later. I don't think I would do it again on a daily driver, I would still do the locks though. Autoloc sells door release cables, they are pretty much hood release cables, they are so helpfull.

If you cant get in during the winter cause the doors are frozen shut you should have installed an automatic window opener so you can open the window from the outside and can pull the door open

so what method did you use to cover up the handles?

im thinking about cutting out the little cove that the handle sits in, panel bonding a piece of sheet metal (or perhaps pieces of smc from a donor cars doors...) to the back side of the hole, and using either panel bond or some other type of structural adhesive to fill whats left of the void. using only glazing putty to fill any pinholes, and a minimal amount of primer to completely level it out.

i would consider using 'glass, but only if ive heard any positive results from it.

That seems like a pretty good idea jeff, using something to fill it in from a doner door panel and then fiberglass it in.

i was looking at the contour of the doors to see if i can cut a chunk out of another door and i believe it will work, but i may have to cut 2 doors to get the exact shape needed. ive decided to bite the bullet and buy some of the special smc body filler. i need some for my glass hood anyways. its super expensive and smells like cat piss, but theres no need to worry about it cracking in the future... like the duraglass on my hood :(

Now my methods are unorthodoxed but I filled the reliefs with a hardening expanding foam (kind of like a plumber foam) and then did my glass work over it. It was my first time trying this on a composite door and it really worked well for me. I have used it on other methods to get contours and shapes (for sub boxes and interior trim) and have always had good luck with it.
