You dont HAVE to reset the speedo if you buy tires that have the right aspect ratio. IE stock size is 245/50/16. If you wanted 17 inch rims you knock 10 off the aspect ratio. Then it would be 245/40/17. Same goes for 18s.. 245/30/18.. Lower the aspect ratio usually means higher the price of the tire.
