    Re: Lighting options..

The H3 / H4 HID's in the halo projectors. That's what I'm doing. I'm not messing with the fog lights.

      Re: Lighting options..

Only reason I would be doing fog lights is because i have a 96 with the sealed beam headlights. Projectors only come as round, which looks retarded in place of my headlights, so fog lights is the only option, seeing as they will be mostly hidden by the billet grill.

Halo projectors are only available on the catfish body style, and i'm not about to change my front end.

Silverstar doesn't make a sealed beam for my car, but I currently have silverstar bulbs in my headlights. I hate them and that's not an option.

Yes, I have the Silverstars on my '97 also, and think they are no better than stock. HID FTW.

Really... What do you hate about them? That's what I have all around in mine right now and am having quite the opposite experience. Truly they are not HID and I do plan on going HID, but I did a side-by-side when I first bought them and they were much brighter and whiter than my factory bulbs. Then again, the factory bulbs were old, but halogens are not suppose to change their color temp as they age. That's one of the reasons they use them in film and television lighting.

                    Re: Lighting options..

Yes, they are quite a bit whiter than stock, and give the illusion of lighting the road better, and even look brighter when looking at them from oustide the car. However, on the highway a few months ago, a rock flew up from a semi truck tire and busted out one of my high beams. I replaced it with a new housing, and when the brights are on, the standard halogen is noticably brighter than the silverstar in the other side. The truth is, the yellowish tint of a stock bulb is more easily seen by the human eye, making it more effective at lighting the road. A blue tint to the bulb only cuts out lumens. The most effective headlight would actually be green, but that would look wierd.

The point is, I'm not happy with what I have currently. I'd rather have my silverstars than the standard halogens, but I'm looking for more. In the rain, it's hard to tell my lights are even on. I'm going with HID, but the question is Projectors in the fogs, or HID in the stock housings.

Absolutely, very true. I'm going to strap a big florescent bulb on my hood. Those have a green spike.

Still, HID is the shiznit... as are Schlotzky Subs. I bet a SchlotSub lit in HID would be like heaven.

i put a pair of $15 sylvania cool blue bulbs in the stock housing. they light up the road great, enough that ill upgrade the high beams soon.

ever considered properly aiming you headlights? one of my pet peeves are improperly aimed headlights, and if theyre not aimed right all the light in the world wont show you what you want to see.

regardless, if you really want more i wouldnt suggest projectors in your fog lights. they are not meant for added visibility on a clear night, replacing them with projectors would be just like turning your high beams on during a foggy night. hence the name "fog lights". my vote goes for the HIDs in the stock housing.
                        foggy headlights? wetsand... buff... WAX!!!

Yes, they are aimed correctly. Thanks for reading the thread.

                            What?

Projectors are the low beams found in high end cars of today. They have a precise cutoff and HID cuts through fog much better than standard halogens. Even if they didn't, there would be no light going above the cutoff, making them in a sense much more effective, brighter fog lights; bright and effective enough to light the road much better than the current headlights+fog lights.

The accepted definition of a fog light is a light that is focused in a certain spot. They normally have a decent cutoff for a standard housing so that they don't cause the "flood light" effect that high beams do, causing everything in front of you to be a bright white mess, hence the name fog light, because they are much more effective in fog than standard headlights.

The final decision is HID projector fog lights. Now if someone could lead me in the right direction as to which projectors to get, that would be great :)
